Bushwalks

The Waitomo landscape is also stunning above ground. If you enjoy walking in the great outdoors, you won’t be disappointed. There are a number of rural and bush tracks to follow while staying with us. Some fantastic natural wonders can be found close by.

Visit the Marakopa Falls, a 30 min drive, or explore the Ruakuri walkway at only 3 km from our Holiday Park. There is a well-constructed track which passes through rain forest and limestone landscape with exceptional views of the Ruakuri Natural Tunnel.

Visit the Mangapohue Natural Bridge, situated 26 km from our Holiday Park. The track follows Mangapohue stream to a double limestone arch, formerly part of a cave system. You can see ancient oyster fossils in limestone outcrops. It's a short but amazing walk.

If you enjoy full-on tramping, try the Dundle Hill Walk! This is a two day walk (27 km) through lush native bush. You'll see amazing and unique limestone formations, caves, forestry and farmland. Many of the walks are even more spectacular at night. We can show you the spots and provide torches for free
